Persian - Farsi Immersion Class in the Los Angeles Area

This is a unique opportunity for a full immersion experience, living with and being taught by a cleared native instructor and other native speakers.  This program is as close to a true immersion as possible for cleared individuals.  The linguists live and study with the teacher, participating in daily social activities and taking part in an intensive one-two week experience.  There is no travel to and from school, and no contact with English speakers.  Every minute of the day is spent practicing Farsi and increasing fluency.  The objective is to provide a language immersion program as close as possible to sending the students to Iran for two weeks.

Each day's study will consist of intensive morning classes focusing on reading and listening skills using proven methods of language teaching by a native speaker with over ten years of language instruction experience.

Lunch is prepared and served by native speakers and the participating students in the target language.  Every afternoon after a Persian cuisine the students and the native speakers will have a traditional tea session.  While sipping on cardamom tea brewed in the traditional Persian samovar, the students will participate in a variety of activities such as: conversation workshops, discussions about the meal, ingredients and preparation instructions, listening to feature native guest speakers, film studies, music, journal writing, language competition, sports, native card games, social activities and games.  Also, Los Angeles offers unique opportunities for nightly field trips to restaurants, bakeries, bookstores, Iranian shows, and clubs.  The emphasis is to keep the student entertained, but constantly learning.

Directed studies are concluded at 8 pm and students are free to engage in their choice of activities, provided it is in the target language.
